Happenings

It seems things are happening every minute of every day with no hopes of slowing down anytime soon! Maybe by mid-June they will calm down a bit :)

I worked in my classroom several days last week and made a few things for the kids. We have a hanging canopy, center labels, a new calendar, curtains over the built ins and LOTS of fun new toys! It was like Christmas in my room. Everything is almost put together. I bought a few more things today for our "Discovery Center" (early science) today and some cutsie things for the walls. I love having a decorated, not cluttered, room that is bright and welcoming. Since our class name is Hackney's Heroes, everything is red, white and blue for the most part. I'm just ready to have the kids in there exploring it all!

I have been asked to serve on a committee that will help implement the upcoming changes and work through the curriculum for our PPCD classrooms throughout the district. The program specialist is working on having it be an actual paid committee which would be even better. I am already in charge of establishing a website for the district PPCD teachers to use to share information, resources and lesson plans with each other. I just hope I can manage it all and still get the opportunity to teach. I will gladly give up time after school or once a month on a Saturday in order to still be able to work with the kids. I'm not at the point yet where I am ready to leave that part of Special Ed. Give me a few more years with the little ones at least.

I have received one letter from TWU saying they have received my application and are waiting on my transcripts for review. I am hoping they have arrived already and that they are in line to be looked over.

Marathon training is going well. I am able to run 1/3 of the distance comfortably which is great. Should be at half within two weeks. One of our new staff members is actually signed up to run in it too. I told her that we don't have to run together but we can go celebrate afterwords. P.S. Anyone reading this is invited to come to the actual race! One of my friends has already agreed to be my little cheerleader at the end. She is so sweet! I would love to have you all there to share in this accomplishment with me. It has been a completely liberating experience even just training. Thank you for all the encouragement thus far. I repeat it to myself when it gets hard to keep running while training.
I've had a few sluggish days here and there but realized I hadn't been taking the B12 supplement like I am supposed to do every day. Since remembering to do that I am feeling much, much better. My joints are a little achy here and there from running on the treadmill at the gym, due to the awful weather we are having, but I have only had one day where I was truly miserable. I am putting in for a personal day the Monday after the race since it is on a Sunday. I'm pretty sure my body isn't going to want to wake up at 5am Monday morning after a 13 mile run the day before.

Speaking of personal days, the bf and I have decided to start putting away some money to go on a mini vacation around Christmas time. He wants to go somewhere that it will actually be cold. We both want a fireplace and I want a hot tub for me if it's going to be somewhere cold. I have been looking on VRBO.com and have found a few places. We want to stay in Texas because I do not do well on car rides. I get extremely carsick if I am not driving, but the further the drive the more pain I am in from sitting in the same position. We were thinking that if we plan far enough out in advance we could book a cheap flight to Northern Texas area through Southwest, and it would be a nice short travel time. We loved the quiet bed and breakfast we stayed in and would like to stay in a small vacation home somewhere a little secluded but not so far away we can't get to anything should the need arise. Anyone have any ideas? Please pass them along. I really, really want to go! I'm not backing down on this whole saving money and putting it away for our trip thing!

So, things are moving along at a rapid pace and all around. It's about time for me to crawl in bed and get ready for another whirlwind day tomorrow. Send me suggestions for the trip if you have any pretty please AND mark your calendar for October 29. That's the day of the race! Hope all is well with each of you. Thank you again for all the supportive words and kind thoughts. It helps more than you know.
